Day Two: Around Tel Aviv!
Today was very fun and exciting! It was the first day of our official tour.
We started the day by going to Tel Bet Shemesh and when we got their we saw a live, archeological dig. I took a piece of pottery from the site, apparently it's a couple thousand years old!

We also went underground into a water well. It was man made and had a small hole on the top that the people would get the water from.

Then we went to the Valley of Elah and saw where David conquered Goliath! I picked up 5 stones and tossed one in a sling.

After that we visited rock quarries in a national park. It took apparently 10-20 years to make one hole in the caverns... there are hundreds and thousands of these holes in Jerusalem. Some of the holes are 3-4000 years old. They made these holes to get the limestone inside the ground to make buildings/houses.

Next we went to a family burial cave. It was filled with paintings of various real and mythical creatures.

We had lunch at a gas station. Most of us ate snitchzel which is a breaded chicken breast sandwhich with hummus... Very delicious!

Next door to the gas station was a recently excavated collesium. It was awesome to look at and apparently this finding made the area go from being regarded as a small city from the past to now being considered a major city from the past.

A little while later we went to the largest tank museum in the world. It was a real nice place:

At night, we went to Jaffa and we got an excellent view of Tel Aviv from Jaffa

The interesting Bible location in Jaffa is a building that Peter first had his vision about the Jews being able to eat all types of food. Here is the door to that building:

It's a little past midnight here now so I better hit the bead before we begin our next exciting adventure later today (8am) going to Caessarea Phillipi.

I made it... too bad the luggage didn't!
I am writing from my first hotel in Tel Aviv/Jaffa. My hotel is the Ruth Daniel Youth Hostel (http://www.iyha.org.il) and is actually a pretty nice place.
One of the first things you notice when you enter Israel is the humidity. It's not as bad as Florida, but the heat and humidity do cause you to sweat the majority of the day.
Myself and the two students that flew in with me arrived last night at 6PM. Due to some confusion in Georgia (they gave my a boarding pass for someone else) I did not get my luggage. Luckily, I brought an extra shirt in my backpack just in case this happened. Ironically too, the people sitting next to me on the plane had been downgraded in the flight from first class and were able to get some toiletries from the air flight which they had given to me without the knowledge of the missing luggage. I'm definitely seeing God's hand at work in this situation. I should be getting my baggage today or tomorrow... so hopefully I can buy some deodorant or borrow some soon or else no one will sit by me on the bus today.
I realized after I got here that I left my camera connection at the house so the only photos I'll be posting will be from my iPhone. Luckily, the new 3.0 update came out Wednesday before I left and one of the feature changes included letting you be in airplane mode and have wifi on. This means that although I can't send or recieve phonecalls I am able to check mail and send mail from my phone in wireless internet locations. I also have my laptop that I am using in wifi locations too.
Today we are going to Casearea Phillipi, which is a very important city especially to the Catholics. It was in this location that Jesus told Peter that on this rock he would build his church. Catholics belive this to be Jesus' ordainment of Peter as the first pope, but Christians believe that Jesus was doing a play on words when he said to Peter (Petros in Greek) that on this rock (Petras in Greek) he would build his church. I'll try to post about my day tonight before going to bed. I have to hope to find a charger for my laptop, otherwise I'll be typing from my iPhone and that won't be fun.
I'll leave you with a picture I took this morning (5:00AM) from the balcony of my hotel room:

I leave for Israel in the morning!
I'm going on a couple adventures this summer and I wanted to be able to remember them after I got back. Tomorrow, June 20th, I'll be heading to Israel for a 10 day trip. In July, I'll be going to Japan, China and Hong Kong for 3 weeks.
Keep me in your prayers as I travel around the world this summer and be sure to check back here for periodic updates about my trip. I'll also post updates on my Facebook account (www.facebook.com/Mr.Webb) and my twitter account (www.twitter.com/Tapdawg).
I guess the picture that best describes how I feel right now is this one:
God Bless
