I made it... too bad the luggage didn't!

I am writing from my first hotel in Tel Aviv/Jaffa. My hotel is the Ruth Daniel Youth Hostel (http://www.iyha.org.il) and is actually a pretty nice place.

One of the first things you notice when you enter Israel is the humidity. It's not as bad as Florida, but the heat and humidity do cause you to sweat the majority of the day.

Myself and the two students that flew in with me arrived last night at 6PM. Due to some confusion in Georgia (they gave my a boarding pass for someone else) I did not get my luggage. Luckily, I brought an extra shirt in my backpack just in case this happened. Ironically too, the people sitting next to me on the plane had been downgraded in the flight from first class and were able to get some toiletries from the air flight which they had given to me without the knowledge of the missing luggage. I'm definitely seeing God's hand at work in this situation. I should be getting my baggage today or tomorrow... so hopefully I can buy some deodorant or borrow some soon or else no one will sit by me on the bus today.

I realized after I got here that I left my camera connection at the house so the only photos I'll be posting will be from my iPhone. Luckily, the new 3.0 update came out Wednesday before I left and one of the feature changes included letting you be in airplane mode and have wifi on. This means that although I can't send or recieve phonecalls I am able to check mail and send mail from my phone in wireless internet locations. I also have my laptop that I am using in wifi locations too.

Today we are going to Casearea Phillipi, which is a very important city especially to the Catholics. It was in this location that Jesus told Peter that on this rock he would build his church. Catholics belive this to be Jesus' ordainment of Peter as the first pope, but Christians believe that Jesus was doing a play on words when he said to Peter (Petros in Greek) that on this rock (Petras in Greek) he would build his church. I'll try to post about my day tonight before going to bed. I have to hope to find a charger for my laptop, otherwise I'll be typing from my iPhone and that won't be fun.

I'll leave you with a picture I took this morning (5:00AM) from the balcony of my hotel room:
